The 24th May 2008 will be the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the first permanent church building in our part of East Ham.
What we call today the 'Church Hall' was 'The Church' in 1908! By the late 1920's it was getting rather full.
So a 'new' church was built - the one we know today - and the 'old' church, became the Church Hall;
a hall still in everyday service, both for the church family, and for the local community.
In acknowledgement of 100 years of the hall, and of a century of Christian service on this site,
we are holding a Centenary Weekend on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th May 2008, which you are warmly invited to attend.
On Saturday there will be a social evening/party, including buffet, from 5pm to 11pm,
and on Sunday a Service of Thanksgiving at 10:30am, attended by the Bishop of Barking, the Rt. Rev. David Hawkins, followed by lunch in the hall at 1:15pm.
In the meantime we would be most grateful if you would delve into your mementoes, photographs, etc. for any items of times past which you could
lend to us for an exhibition
(all items will be returned to you). If you are able to help in this way, please post items to:
Centenary Exhibition, St. Paul's Church Centre,
227 Burges Road, East Ham, London E6 2EU
or email to : centenary@saintpauls.fsnet.co.uk
If you would like to attend, please advise us by e-mail of 'how many' and 'what event', so we can keep you advised of any last-minute items.
If you would like us to send you an e-mail when new events are forthcoming, then please make use of our feedback form to let us know.
