The Carving over the Church Centre Entrance
Designed and Carved by Jane Quail of Norwich. (As used in our Logo, reproduced below.)
This sculpture expresses the purpose of the Church Centre.
God is at the top (in gold) worshipped and loved by His Church (being His people, not the building),
who are also taking His love (symbolised on the carving by the gold fleck) out into the world,
the hands of whom are along the bottom line. The carving shows the Church is as hurt and damaged as the world is.
It also shows the Church is made up of people of all races, ages and abilities.
Notice the hands in the middle right-hand are speaking in sign language the letters ‘A’ and ‘Z’,
“The Lord is the Beginning and the End”.
Included in the bottom corners of the Carving (but not in the logo) are a Butterfly (representing Resurrection)
and a Bee (a sign of Christian purity, good order, courage, prudence, co-operation, sweetness, vigilance and zeal).
They also stand for Creation and the Environment.
